Tori McCade is bound and determined to earn her degree and return home to practice veterinary medicine in Salt Fork, Texas. Nothing and no one can stop her, not even the hottest man she's ever met in her life.
A man who knows what he wants
Sam Garza meets the much younger Tori McCade in a dance club in Dallas, Texas, and all bets are off. He wants her, and he's going to have her . . . even if it means following her to Salt Fork. Both agree they need to keep things simple and uncomplicated. And he's okay with that . . . for now.
EXCERPT
Tori's breath stalled in her lungs as her back lay nestled against Sam's solid-muscled chest. She felt his lips on her hair, his kiss burning her scalp. Hot prickles of desire infused her blood, and she couldn't help tilting her head forward, wanting to feel his lips on her skin. He was quick to oblige, trailing kisses across the nape of her neck and collarbone.
Suddenly, he twirled her around and Tori looked up at him. He really was a brutally handsome man, his features hard as granite. She fleetingly wondered how a man who looked so fierce, so feral, could scatter such gentle kisses across her sensitive skin. How a man who had uprooted his whole life so he could help his sick mother--how could such a man look at her with such intense yearning? Such hot passion?
Sam's eyes dilated beneath heavy lids. He bent toward her, stopping only millimeters from her mouth. His breath was hot on her lips. Tori's stomach dipped in an alarming manner.
"I'm going to kiss you." His voice was rough with desire. "I've been wanting to kiss you from the first moment I saw you at the bar."
He yanked her into his strong arms and gathered her close. He was warm and hard and very aroused. Before Tori could say or do anything, his mouth crushed down on hers in a hungry savage kiss.

I've loved the whole series and was ecstatic when the book came out. As the other entries, it's got romance, fun...yet something's amiss. I just can't point it down, but I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I'd hoped I would.I flipped through pages and couldn't bring myself to be consumed as I'd been by the previous characters.
I don't know if it's because of the Latin stereotype that I had some issues with (I highly suggest proofreading the small bits of Spanish language: adverbs go after verbs; adjectives go after nouns; the opposite of English), or the fact that it's all (mostly) a flashback...I don't know.
It's not bad, it's just not the best book of the series, at least, not for me.
Writing is otherwise great and Novark did a good job with it; I had issues with the plot.

The Cowgirl Secret The Diamondback Ranch Anne Marie Novark 9781493500246 Books Reviews
I enjoyed the entire Diamondback Ranch series. The four brothers stories were wonderful romances. This the the story of their sisters romance. The man was 10 years older than her, but had infinite patience as she wanted to finish college, then Vet school, Then took over a practice and another one. I gave it only 4 stars as I truly dont think any man would wait that long. And of course we know they would marry in the end.
to me the book is pretty good, but to me it seemed not to plausible that her family really had no idea that these two were really deeply in lo e with each other. How could they have keep this relationship that was to be so passionate under wraps? I kept feeling in this story, they would drift apart, then at other times, it felt contrived and rushed. To tell the truth, I love the other books in the series a great deal more.
book lover
Quick and interesting. I think Sam Garza is my favorite male character so far in the series, yet can't put my finger on the reason other than he was more concerned for the welfare of his partner more than his own, as well as the way he cared for his mother during a difficult time. Nice to see recognition that there are men who do become caretakers in these situations. Like others, I hope there will be a few more books dealing with Kelsey and the twins.
I love the 5 Diamond Ranch Series but this book 5 about Tori and Sam is the least liked choice of mine because I find Tori such a selfish and manipulative girl while Sam is a loving man who will do anything for the woman he loved. Such endearing qualities of Sam really makes the book somewhat enjoyable and make me love him more for his patience and determination to wait for Tori. That's why it is called Cowgirl's secret , Tori kept their relationship under wrap from the her family, friends and hometown grapevine which is ludicrous for her intent and purposes. nevertheless , it is alright.
I have been waiting for this one for a while. After catching glimpses of Tori and Sam through the other books I needed to knwo what was going on there. All in answered in The Cowgirls Secret.
Man what a tough woman is Tori McCade. She had Sam hanging and willing to wait four years for her. That is love in the truest form. It's not to say they didn't have their share of pain but they came out the other end and as always love triumphs.
To say that Sam was concerned when he had to confront those McCade brothers of Tori's is an understatment, but he held his own and they respected him for standing by their sister.
Thoroughly enjoyed
I have to say right off that after reading the story there was one thing that just rubbed me the wrong way. When we first meet Tori and Sam, they are in Dallas where Tori is in school. I won't ruin the story but let's just say that Sam waits like five years to get his chance with Tori and even moves! And she makes him wait time and time again. For whenever its right for her and doesn't think about how it makes him feel. This was still a love story pure and simple but that just rubbed me wrong. I would still recommend this series to others.
Well it looks like there might be more books in the future which is okay with me. So far I have enjoyed all 5 books in this series. I live pretty near Salt Fork, so I really love reading about the folks and the lifestyle. It was wonderful getting the background on Tori's and Sam's relationship. As this book ends with Kelsey in her first year at Texas Tech and Ruth's older orphaned nieces added to the family, there is probably enough fodder or a few more stories. Each story can stand alone so you don't have to read them all, but who can resist a mach, hot cowboy and the women who love them?
I've loved the whole series and was ecstatic when the book came out. As the other entries, it's got romance, fun...yet something's amiss. I just can't point it down, but I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I'd hoped I would.
