Former rodeo champion Jess Carpenter’s been rode hard and put away lonely. Lucas Santiago has anger management issues and a passion for the livestock in his care. When they meet, Luc’s fanboy crush on the older bronc rider turns into an attraction neither man can deny.

But Jess’ visit to Crow Creek Ranch to look for bucking stock brings a complication—a history with owner Ash MacBryde that ignites an emotional firestorm. It threatens not only Jess’ budding feelings for the young wrangler, Luc, but it also drives a wedge between Ash and his married partner, Oak.

While Ash and Jess struggle to understand and control their still smoldering feelings for each other, the two young men who would love them unite in desperation, making the kinds of bad choices that lead to jealous rage and soul-searing hurt.

To save Oak, Luc will do whatever it takes, including doing jail time. To save themselves, Jess and Ash must finally confront what they’ve hidden for years.

Four men vie to hold onto the things they hold dear. Riding for the time. Riding for the glory. And it only takes one misstep to disqualify any one of them, from the competition, from life… and from love.

Warning contains adult sexual M/M content, romance, and adult language. It is unsuitable for readers under the age of 18.

Pulling Leather is the second book in a three-story romance arc that includes Ash&Oak (book 1) and Strapping Ash (book 3). These three titles are best enjoyed when read in order.

Pulling Leather A Crow Creek Novel edition by Nya Rawlyns Literature Fiction eBooks

Pulling Leather is the second in Nya Rawlyns' enthralling Crow Creek novel series. The story begins not long after the ending of the first, Ash & Oak. In that book Ash MacBryde, the owner of Crow Creek Ranch, hires Oakley Richards as his partner in the ranch operations, and they fall in love. Ah, paradise!

Paradise would be wonderful, if only it were just the two of them, but this ranch-paradise is soon invaded by Lucas Santiago, a young closeted gay man with anger management issues which have him placed in Ash's care after a third assault incident. His very close friendship with Oak isn't a source of concern or jealousy since Ash believes Luc is straight.

That changes overnight when Jess Carpenter arrives to look over some possible stock additions to the ranch he works on in Texas. The former bronc-rider was the subject of Luc's fanboy crush and sparks fly instantly. All well and good, except ....

Jess is also Ash's former lover, a fact neither Oak nor Luc is aware of until Ash's offhand remark rips open another closet -- the one both older men have crammed full of their feelings for each other. They've locked that closet so firmly that both are caught unawares when the door splinters and the carefully packed boxes of lust and love come tumbling out, covered with `volatile, handle with caution, keep sealed at all times' stickers. The resulting explosions threaten to tear apart much more than Ash & Oak's shiny new marriage and Jess & Luc's budding relationship; the hearts and even the sanity of all four men are threatened by the turmoil of unfinished business.

Nya Rawlyns delivers, as always, a complex and engaging story that takes place in intriguing and well-described surroundings. She refuses to allow her characters to disguise their struggles, but instead undresses them layer by layer. She tosses the Stetson of pride onto a rack, pops the snaps of the Western shirt of guilt, unfastens the tarnished buckle of ego's belt, wrenches off the pointy-toed boots of stubbornness, drops the jeans of insecurity until all four men are not simply naked, but exposed. To the reader, to each other, and most difficult of all, to themselves. It's impossible to read her books without giving the characters an iron-clad lease on sections of your heart. These men are no exception.

I give this outstanding book the full 5 stars, with a heat-rating of `where's the fire extinguisher'.

Pulling Leather A Crow Creek Novel edition by Nya Rawlyns Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

One of the worst books I've ever read. It is depressing with a cheating jerk (and it totally ruined the first book, which had a good ending if you did not know about this book, for me). Ash is irredeemable in my mind and I hope Oak gets someone deserving of him, but I would never waste my money on another book by this author. If you like books with bad endings you might enjoy this books, but if you're like me and read books to be uplifted, skip this book.
In the first book I liked Ash and Oak. This book I found I'm not sure who Ash is and I don't care for him. Jess isn't much better. The author used too many words to say very little and not much was wrapped up. Sorry but it was overpriced and not very satisfying.
I've enjoyed her other books, but unfortunately this one I just didn't care for it.It felt like a 3 man triangle....Ash and Jess, and Jess and Luc with Oak left out in the cold. I felt like this was a Jess and Ash story with Oak and Luc as secondary characters. When Ash cheated on Oak with Jess even if there wasn't actual sex involved but there was kissing and close to doing it and then when Ash ran off with Jess leaving Oak hurt back at the ranch that just made my opinion of Ash that much worse.. All Ash talked to Jess about was having sex with him there wasn't any thoughts or concerns about Oak which makes me wonder how much he really cared for Oak..I really think Oak should have left the ranch by himself and just took off whether to think about whether Ash was really the man for him or just to leave and start over somewhere else.....I didn't really feel like Oak was really a major part in this story when what Ash and Jess were doing would greatly effect the future of Oak and Ash.....the last chapter or so when the got back to the ranch and Ash found out Oak had left the ranch and went back to Vermont and how he acted to me was weird because all he had been talking to Jess was about him wanting to have sex with him and where were any thoughts about Oak during all this..
When he and Jess came close to having sex when the boys were in town and then when Oak thru secondary conversation between Jess and Luc admitted he wanted to get back at Ash by having sex with Luc and then Ash got so mad at Oak I thought Ash felt like it was okay for him to practically have sex with Jess but when Oak admitted what he almost had done that it was entirely different and that Oak was betraying him and then to run off with Jess and then to continue making these suggestive remarks to Jess ...it just became a book in poor taste....Oak deserved better from Ash than what he was getting...I hope if there is another book in this series it is about Ash and Oak with you getting more thoughts from Oak's side of the story and Ash having to work really hard to get Oak to take him back....Ash really needs to grovel real hard on his knees....I think the author could have used a better story line than this...it completely ruined the first book by screwing with Oak and Ash the way she did in this book.....
